Challenge #13: CLIMB
Get yourself up on a high mountain…
Lift up your voice mightily,
Say to the cities of Judah,
“HERE IS YOUR GOD!”
(Isaiah 40)
There is something unique about standing on top of a mountain. The view. The thin, crisp air. The feeling of accomplishment.
The front row seat to a small slice of God’s grandeur.
Today’s challenge follows the path of yesterday’s challenge. You read about the glory of God in Job and Psalms, about the things unseen, the power and purpose and sovereignty of an all-powerful God. Now it’s time to enjoy it.
Challenge #13: Climb a mountain. Go for a hike, a walk, a bicycle ride – you choose – but get outside! Enjoy the (almost)green earth and revel in His Creation. You have a week to do so: accomplish this challenge within the next seven days, then write about what you did, where you went, what you saw, what you said…
This is a simple challenge, but I caution you that it can easily be executed incorrectly. When climbing, hiking, etc., many people make the natural mistake of focusing on the destination, the end-point. The focus here is the journey itself! Try not to worry about the time, the distance, the number of calories you’re probably burning.
Climb. Get yourself up on a high mountain. And enjoy His glory.
Get ready to be sneaky with tomorrow’s Challenge #14: RANDOM

so today i went outside and enjoyed creation. me and my sisters played a lot of games and then we went for a bike ride. it was wonderful. i got to see all the beauty in creation and catch up with neighbors that I hadn't seen in a while. I loved it.
ReplyDeletei dont know if this counts but i went to the East Cobb pool and swam for 2 hours
ReplyDeletei'm going on a natureish thing this weekend hopefully.. :]
ReplyDeleteI'm holding this challenge until I'm in the Smokies next week.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone saw my last post, I'm going on a photojourney in my neighborhood tommorow (and maybe in Saddlebrook if Mom and Dad say yes). I really love taking nature photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm going on a nature walk type thing in the morning.
ReplyDeletei go outside and practice soccer every day, but today i am going to pay attention to everything around me and play soccer for a more God-related reason. also, me and my family are going on a hike this weekend (hopefully).
ReplyDeleteI went to swift cantrel park today with my dog. It was peaceful... yes it was full of people enjoying this sun and warmth... but really peaceful. There is a section on the back part of the walk that goes into the "woods" and there is a "children's forest" where there trees planted there are by families. but on that part of the trail eveything is so natural. it isnt the chain link fences like most parks, but actual wood beams and bushes and shrubs. when you take a walk with a dog you have to see through their eyes, but still protect them. My dog stops every five feet to smell something. so I had to stop every five feet to take in my surrondings. The cool think about it is, having this dog... even though most people get dogs to have protection you still have to protect them. I took Brink into the dog park...that is a scary place. all these dogs running round without leashes... playing and smelling each other. Most of you dont know my dog but he doesnt like other dogs in his area. so I had to know when he had had enough of some dog smalling his butt and when he could take a little more becuase that is how they explore. I wonder if that is how God feels when he is walking with us? He lets us play and make our choices while standing there to be our protector. He puts things in our way the tell us "no, no... don't do that.. it could hurt you" and it is our job to listen.. or not. I'm on a tangent... but that is what I got out of my walk. I saw His beauty and part of what i think he feels like protecting us and being with us. It was a cool experience
ReplyDeleteThis past week, I was amazed at the freshness of Spring! As I walked around in our woods, I witnessed each day the gradual development of the tree's buds as they sprout from the seemingly lifeless limbs. It is amazing to me how simply beautiful the trees and flowers are this time of year! I am amazed that God can create such simple beauty to spring forth and yet He is so powerful that he can cause the earth to shake in such a violent way that it causes the earth's axis to shift 3 inches. WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteToday's climb was an amazing mix of seasons. As I wandered around the Smoky Mountains between Maryville and Knoxville, early signs of spring were everywhere. On the other hand, it was also snowing. The beautiful juxtaposition of spring and winter was amazing. It made me thank God for the beauty of the seasons and the cycles in our lives that they represent. WOW!
